This is such an interesting photograph! I love the fact that you can not exactly tell what this photograph is, that is what makes you take a closer look at the photograph. When you do take a closer look you see that it is people dancing. I love the blurry affect and the blue and green colors that come across the entire photograph. It really carries the viewers eye from one side to the other. Its really cool to see your perspective of community and how you interpreted the assignment. -Nicole M.
We all live in a world that runs off the constant motion of people; the work they do and the problems they solve. Within this world lie problems that at the end of the day may go unresolved, but none the less are problems that we all deal with. Tucson is no exception to this. Amongst the monumental structure of the University of Arizona, lying in a flat desert backdrop, are the same people that make this world turn, the same people that work for tomorrow and fight through the day. Within this community of students and Tucson patrons, is a population of people who escape the chaotic hustle in a way where all inhibitions are let loose, through night life. Night life allows for an individual to get away, whether just for an hour, a night or a weekend. Students and adults alike find escape through alcohol, music, and the companionship of like minded bodies that look for the same release. We hoped to capture this aspect of peoples’ lives, which has come to become a home to many. Through photographic elements it was our goal to bring light to a community that only comes out at night. One of our objectives was to capture an image through the eyes of a night lifer; through what lens do we view the world when our minds are clouded with toxins. We were inspired by the many people who continue to endure the frenzied world we have come to love and find escape through a median not many of us may be accustomed to.
